Alex Vance: The cat’s meow.

Name:

Alex Vance

Occupation:

Writer, editor, publisher, semiprofessional badass

Personal Motto (stolen):

“ If I wanted to read a good book,

I’d have written one. “

Alex Vance, that is I, is/am a furry author, founder of the Bad Dog Books anthropomorphic publishing house and the furry fiction archive FurRag.

I’ve been in the furry fandom since the late nineties, originally active in the FurNation talker until its closure, then transitioning to the Yiffnet channel to which most of the original FurNation talker population had moved.

In 2005, my frustration at the dearth of furry fiction periodicals of significance led me to found a publishing operation and its flagship product, the periodical erotic furry fiction anthology FANG. Later that year, with the aid of a friend, I set up a furry fiction archive called FurRag, intended as a more general-purpose counterpart to Yiffstar, whose admin Toumal provided some coding assistance.

In early 2006, I began suffering from repetitive strain injury, causing me pain in his fingers which required me to substantially moderate my typing. I announced his intention to put FANG on indefinite hiatus in order to let my fingers heal. With the help of Ben Goodridge, I consolidated Bad Dog Books in July 2006 and resumed development of FANG and its new non-erotic counterpart ROAR.

Until the deterioration of my fingers, Alex was an avid writer, and my published fiction for the furry community has appeared in FurNation Magazine issue 9 from FurPlanet and Heat Volume 4 from Sofawolf Press -- and soon also the exciting new comic Heathen City.
